Stathis Petropoulos was born in Athens, Greece in 1972.

From a young age he enjoyed spending time with anything that had to do with the creation of art. Drawing, painting and model-making where his favorite pastimes. After high school he attended the prestigious Art Center College of Design and then went on to get his degree in industrial design from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. Straight after graduation, he moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked as a designer for two years and then moved back to Athens, Greece to complete his military duties. He then worked for a number of architecture firms, designing furniture and interiors.

In 2002, with his brother Vassilis, he founded Vastdesign. The company dealt with the design, production and sales of furniture, lighting and ceramic products for the home.

In 2015 Stathis extended his creative focus towards illustration. Since then,  he has been providing award winning work for the children’s publishing market. In February 2022, his debut picture book ‘Brown and Friends’ was published by Psichogios Publishing, one of Greece’s largest publishing houses.
