Standing Proud . Print

Stadiou is one of the city’s largest historic avenues. It was once bustling with small shops, large department stores and theatres but it has sadly now been neglected. There is an edifice, however, on the lower end of the avenue, just after Omonia Square, which still stands proud. Despite the fact that it is no longer in use, it is majestic in its appearance. It once housed the Royal Printing Service, from the years when Greece was a Monarchy. Later on it was home to the Athens District Courts of First Instance. One late afternoon, it captured my interest and I just had to paint it.
